The Spey casting instruction outing originally scheduled for August 7 has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 16. It will take place between 8am and 10 am, on the Snoqualmie River at the Fall City Bridge.
The format has changed from the previous event. Emerald Waters Anglers owner, guide and instructor, Dave McCoy, will be joined by representatives from equipment manufacturers, including Sage, Winston, Hardy, Thomas and Thomas, Echo, Loomis and others. These rod makers will have their equipment available for members to try. After 10am, the event will be open for non members and will conclude at 3pm.
The 8am to 10am period is for the exclusive instruction of NWFA members, with no non members participating.
The member cost will be $25 each. Those who signed up for the earlier event and who participate in the October 16 event will receive a refund of $25 from their earlier registration fee of $50.
Dave McCoy has declined to accept a payment for his services, given the changed format of the program. He has requested that any payment from club members be donated to an angling related conservation group, such as the Wild Steelhead Coalition, the Coast Salmon Partnership or another similar organization of his choice.
Although different from the earlier event, its core remains the same - Spey casting instruction for members of different skill levels from a well qualified instructor. In addition, members get to see and try the latest Spey equipment, and support a worthwhile angling cause.
We are booked for 8am to mid morning (10am).
After that, members can stay for extra instruction but the rest of the day until mid afternoon will be available for other, non club members. Dave is excited about this. The difficulty he was having with our last booking was getting sufficient rod/reel/line combinations, Skagit and Skandi etc. Now he will have multiple set ups to cover the
needs of individual members, plus plenty of support from other instructors.
