Conservation is an important activity of Northwest Fly Anglers. Please join us on our first conservation outing of 2024. Event host is Susanne Staats.
This outing is with the Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group to restore Chinook salmon habitat. One of the tasks is to clear Himalayan Blackberry from the banks of the Sammamish River to make space for planting native trees and shrubs. Other tasks are plant identification and removing weeds from around recently planted native plants. During the event you will learn about Puget Sound salmon, restoration ecology, and plant ID. We will be working on a 600-foot stretch of the Sammamish River by the former Redhook Brewery site.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN ATHLETIC PERSON TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT. TASKS WILL BE ASSIGNED BASED ON YOUR STRENGTH AND STAMINA. ALL AGES AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES ARE WELCOME.
