Outing Leader: Wytold Lebing
As part of Duwamish Alive! Fall 2017, Forterra and Green Tukwila Partnership will be planting and mulching along the Duwamish River.
Volunteer: Join NFA volunteers, friends, and neighbors at Duwamish Alive along the Duwamish Shoreline behind BECU in Tukwila!
After a summer of removing invasive plants at the Duwamish Shoreline, we will be planting native species along the river and spreading mulch to continue to bring this location back to its former glory! While you’re here, keep an eye out for otter, osprey and other wildlife making their home along the river’s edge. This is a great way to give back to your local community, and is also an awesome opportunity to meet some new faces, to get your hands dirty, and to get outside and connect with the Green-Duwamish River!
What to bring: Please dress for the weather because we will be working rain or shine! Wear boots or comfortable athletic shoes, work clothes, appropriate layers for rain and sun (including sunscreen). Volunteers should also bring a refillable water bottle; snacks and coffee will be provided.
Restoration training, tools and gloves will also be provided. No experience necessary, so make sure to bring along your friends, family, and neighbors!
Youth volunteers: If you are under 18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian, please come to the event with a Youth Waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Youth Waiver for Forterra Restoration Events can be found here.
