The NFA will provide two scholarships to the 2016 Youth Fly Fishing Academy, which runs from June 19 to June 25 and is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 16. The live-in camp is located on Hicks Lake in Lacey, WA. All applications need to submitted to the NFA by April 13.

If you know of a child that may be interested, please have them submit an application to any member of the NFA Steering Committee.

The curriculum of the academy emphasizes conservation activities and a full understanding of the importance of being good stewards of our natural resources. Students learn about the ecosystems of wild fish and what it takes to maintain healthy fisheries. Kids engage in on-the-water insect sampling activities led by wildlife resource professionals.

Fly fishing classes include fly casting, fly tying, knot tying, reading the water, and other essentials of fly fishing. These classes are taught by professionals in the field as well as local fly club enthusiasts. Fishing trips are done to Nisqually Pond and the Deschutes River near Olympia.

Send the completed application to NFA President, Northwest Fly Anglers, PO Box 75212, Seattle WA 98175. The steering committee will pick the two kids who get our scholarships, and forward the applications of the winners. The steering committee needs to get the applications by April 13, 2016.
